It is the rapture I get when in writing I seem to be discovering what belongs to what; making a scene come right; making a character come together. From this I reach what I might call a philosophy; at any rate it is a constant idea of mine; that behind the cotton wool is hidden a pattern; that we – I mean all human beings – are connected with this; that the whole world is a work of art; that we are parts of the work of art.
- Virginia Woolf

Hi, I'm Shahar Adar
And my dream is to live the literary world.
Ever since I was young, I loved reading, worked at a bookstore and enjoyed every minute and when time came to choose the path I want to take in life, I’ve decided to go with my heart.
I have a B.A. in English Literature and Linguistics and I’m working on my M.A. in English Literature.
I work with multiple publishing houses in which I’m editing books both literary and linguistically, editing translations, reviewing books (beta-reading), proofreading, transcribing and digitalizing life stories.
I work both in Hebrew and English and in various genres; historical novels, romance, fantasy, thrillers, biographies.
As a freelancer, I collaborate with professionals that can walk you through the publishing process.
I would love to help bring your piece into a place where you’re happy with it and ready to share it with the world.
?What can I offer you

Professional Book Review
In Latin, Lector means - one who reads.
You finished writing your book’s first draft? Now you ought to make sure an objective, experienced set of eyes reads it.
I’m here to provide a professional, honest review which will help improve your text. At the end of the process, you will get a file detailing your book’s merits and shortcomings, literary and linguistically wise.
If we choose working together on Literary editing, the review will be considered as the first round of editing and the price will be reduced accordingly.

Translation
Have you published a book in Hebrew and you wish to translate it into English, or the other way around?
Are you interested in translating your book and fitting it into another target audience?
When translating, except for changing the source language into the target language, you must befit the meaning of the text to the target audience.
If the book is written in Hebrew and is dedicated to an Israeli audience or written in English and is intended to be sold in Amazon, there might be different adjustments to make for different audiences.
Translation is a joint process between the author and the translator, in which we preserve the essence of the book while fine-tuning it to another audience.

Proofreading & Final Reading
This is the final stage of your book.
It’s gone through literary and linguistical editing and now you want a final make sure, a keen eye for detail reads it and catch every tiny mistake that’s evaded you, as much as essential mistakes perhaps overlooked at in the process.

Digitalization
Would you like to digitize your grandfather’s hand-written life story?
Collet your grandmother’s hand-written recipes to a proper cookbook?
I can help you in both transcribing and digitalizing it, but also in re-writing, editing and turning it into an actual book.

Literary Editing
Have you finished writing your book and wish to share it with the world? It’s time to examine it.
The work of a literary editor is not just trying to improve your manuscript but also about exploring your text through its absence. What does this character lack? Is the narrator consistent throughout the text? Are there any internal contradictions? Which chapter should be reduced and which paragraph to add.
Literary editing is a joint work process between the writer and the editor in the purpose of enhancing your literary creation.
Literary editing will include an acquaintance with your book and yourself and two rounds of editing. The first, a professional review which will suggest more significant changes to your text as a whole, while the second will focus on unifying the text, register, wording and linguistic editing.

Translation Editing
Have you published a book in Hebrew and you have already translated it? By yourself or with the help of an AI tool?
Are you interested in another set of eyes that will edit the translation alongside the original, helping you ensure the translation's accuracy?
In the editing process, the translation editor will make sure that the content, essence and the writer's intention will remain intact, and of course going through the translation and making sure to catch human mistakes, as well as AI mistakes and delusions.
